I am thrilled to announce our program for the spring concert and excited to get to work with you. We will be focusing on music of the American living composers Eric Whitacre, Libby Larsen, Carol Barnett and PDQ Bach aka Peter Schickele. We will perform Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs, which are a stunning set of songs that are rhythmically exciting and very accessible. The other composers bring us modern, American-style madrigals focusing on love and nature with a flare of humor presented by the satirical master, PDQ Bach in his “My Bonnie Lass She Smelleth” and “Two Lips”. The remainder of the program will feature earlier American styles such as spirituals, jazz and Native American songs.
I hope you will join us for the spring semester.
